Instructor - Game Economics

Job Title: Course Director, Economics

Job Type: Full Time

Department: Education – Game Design Bachelor of Science

Responsibilities: The Faculty member will develop curriculum and teach the Economics course in the Game Design Bachelor of Science Program. The Economics course examines economic principles and systems and how they can and are applied in a video game. This course focuses specifically on game economics and will examine how markets are created and maintained in game worlds. Students will learn how players allocate their resources in a limited market, while trying to satisfy their wants and needs. This is maintained through economic balance and fluctuations that are controlled by the designer and must be maintained throughout the development process. Topics of study include basic economic theory, inflation, supply & demand, poverty & inequality, and market stability.

Candidate will mentor students, attend faculty development workshops, and participate in campus activities including meetings, special events, behind-the-scenes tours and graduation.

All faculty will work directly from the Full Sail campus in Winter Park, FL.

Requirements: The successful candidate will have a minimum of 4 years professional experience in Economics with an emphasis in Game Economic Systems.

Education/Training: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business and a minimum of 4 years professional experience in Game Economics.

Skills Needed:
This is primarily a lecture position, so candidates must also demonstrate strong communication and presentation skills, with previous educational experience preferred. Applicants must have a proven ability to create effective and engaging course curriculum.
